In the Russian city of Izhevsk, the police found a street dog sprayed with pink. It is an animal abuse that caused great health damage to the four-legged friend. The animal cruelty was reported by city residents and the police are now looking for those  responsible  for this crime. Who can possibly torture an animal like that?

Those responsible for this cruel “joke” are wanted

Those responsible in this Russian city are still trying to find those responsible who sprayed a street dog with pink paint. The images of the poor animal were shared across the world via social networks, causing outrage, rejection and horror.

It is a cruel “joke” that cannot be accepted. However  , it has not yet been possible to find those responsible .

Vera Ivanova, activist and volunteer from Vida Silvestre, found the animal and took it to a nearby animal shelter, where it was treated and stripped of paint, which various international media have confirmed.

These activists stated that it was almost a miracle that the dog could be saved. He felt very bad because he had swallowed some of the paint that strangers had used to dye his fur pink. Therefore, the four-legged friend constantly vomited and suffered great pain.

The police are still on the hunt for the perpetrators  to be held accountable for cruelty to animals.

Similar case in Colombia

In the Colombian city of Medellín, too, many were horrified when they saw the photo of a dog that had been painted in the colors of the national flag: blue, yellow and red. This happened during the Copa America Centenario football event.

The mixed breed dog was yellow on the head, back, and forelegs. The belly and middle part of the back were painted blue, and the tail and hind legs were painted red. In the photos, the dog looks very sad.

Colombian veterinarian Catalina Yepes Mejía, who is a member of the Corporación Raya animal welfare association  , points out that while there are special dyes for animals that are not toxic, she does not believe they were used on this dog. These colors are very difficult to obtain in this region. “Beyond the physical and health damage that the dog has suffered, it is a clear attack on the life of the animal,” explains the veterinarian.

Dangers of coloring a dog

While these incidents cause outrage and a feeling of powerlessness in most animal lovers, others have turned them into a business: colored dogs or cats are fashionable.

In cities like Tokyo, New York, London or Paris, you can have the animals’ hair dyed in any color at the dog or cat hairdresser. However, it should not be forgotten that these dyes are harmful to the health of animals!

In China, too, many dog and cat owners dye their animals and dress them  up to allegedly make them more attractive. One of the most famous cases: a family who colored their dog like a panda bear (black and white). Some dealers also dye dogs in order to sell them more expensive than pedigree dogs.

But the dyes lead to poisoning in many animals. The skin of animals is a sensitive body organ that is very receptive. The coloring agents penetrate the body through the skin. In dogs or cats, this process is even faster if they lick each other constantly.

Quite a few dogs have died from poisoning from fur stained with harmful chemicals. It becomes particularly problematic if the dog is not bathed quickly in order to remove the product again.

In addition, these chemicals interfere with the dog’s sense of smell. This can be very uncomfortable for the four-legged friend, because the sense of smell is fundamental and also serves as a means of communication. When a dog is perfumed or bathed with human shampoo, its sense of smell also suffers.
