A monkey with clothes can very often be seen on the Internet and in films . Often the animals are also taught human behavior. Although this seems funny at first glance, there is a cruel reality behind it.
We are talking about humanized animals that learn unnatural skills such as cycling or smoking. It is also about humanization when we try to give human explanations for animal behavior in wild animals.
But one must not forget that a monkey as a pet suffers enormously. You have to snatch him from his mother’s arms in order to be able to tame or humanize him. A clear example are the actors in the pictures we are showing you today.

The primate’s false smile
There are other indications of the suffering of these animals; many primates show how they are feeling by their facial expressions. But mostly we don’t give them any meaning or misinterpret them.
While for humans the smile has a good meaning, for the monkey it is fear when it shows us its teeth in a similar way: this is its weapon that it uses to express its fear.
When we see a monkey with clothing or human behavior, it often appears with this expression of fear. This seems funny to many, but the training is done through fear and abuse.
There is only one way to make an animal radiate fear if you want it to. In fact, it has been proven that the majority of primates who star in films exhibit this behavior.
Consequences of the humanization of monkeys
Separating these animals from their mothers in order to humanize them has many consequences: The relationship between mothers and children is strong in all primates, from the human species to the capuchin monkey.
Using these animals for movies or as pets creates psychological problems. These are similar to orphans who are badly treated and lack tenderness and affection.
They are complex wild animals that have to live in large herds of monkeys of the same species.
There are other, lesser-known consequences, however: sharing pictures of a monkey wearing clothes or as a pet has been shown to increase the illegal trade in wild species, putting these animals at risk of extinction.
One of the most famous cases is the slow loris, a poisonous mammal whose illegal hunt rose abruptly with the YouTube videos where it is shown as a pet .
This is the best example of a humanization of natural behavior: You can see Loris raise his arms when you tickle him. However, it is a defensive behavior: there are poisonous glands on the elbows of the slow loris.
Numerous authorities have raised awareness of the dangers of humanizing wild animals and their uses in the film and entertainment industries.
One of the best known animal rights activists is Jane Goodall, who saved many chimpanzees and other species in her primate enclosures and asks not to share these types of pictures on social networks.
